2 Types of Data –Quantitative (1/3) Quantitative means numerical data. Discrete Data can take only certain values such as whole numbers. We can find the mean, median, mode and range, etc. E.g.. The number of desk in each classroom. But NOT values in-between. 28 29 30 31 32 We can’t have 31.5 desks. Types of Quantitative Data

3 Continuous Data: Types of Data – Quantitative (2/3) Can take any value in a certain range. E.g.. The height of students in each class. And values in-between. 168cm 179cm 150cm 141cm 184cm We can have 151.5cm in height. Types of Quantitative Data

4 Types of Data – Categorical (3/3) Examples Data can be counted/classified into groups We can’t find the mean, median and range. We can only find the Mode. Types of cars: Toyota, Ford, Subaru, … Types Trees: Pines, Eucalypt, Melaluca, … Hair Colour: Blonde, Brown, Red, …
