1 /18-Feb-161 Response of Surface Access Providers – Network Rail Chris Rowley, Principal Strategic Planner (L&SE)

2 / Planning the rail network 18-Feb-162  Network Rail works with the industry on short, medium and longer-term plans for the network  The medium and longer-term aspects of this is carried out via the Long-Term Planning Process. The Process includes demand forecasting, network capacity assessments and modelling future station usage.  We have published the drafts of the Western, Sussex and Wessex Route Studies which present options to funders for CP6 and beyond.

3 / Rail demand in London & the South East  In 2014-15, over 1.6 billion passenger journeys were made in Great Britain, the highest recorded figure since the series began.  Franchised passenger journeys saw an increase of 69.5% over 2002- 03.  London and South East sector accounts for 69.8% of the total franchised passenger journeys in 2014/15.  Airport demand is an important but small proportion of peak demand.  Draft Route Studies set out Medium/ Long Term options that impact a number of L&SE airports 18-Feb-163
