Stuber, Principles of Mobile Communication] –where is the receiver sensitivity which can be calculated as : received energy per modulated symbol : Noise spectral density given as : Data rate in bits per sec Example with =5dB, =3dB, and =10dBm in room temperature March 2009 Young-Chai Ko,Korea UniversitySlide 9 10Gbps20Gbps BER 0.1%0.001%0.1%0.001% Max. allowable path loss [dB] 75.1472.3472.1369.33 Max Distance [m] 7.5147.2347.2136.933

10 doc.: IEEE 802.15-09-0152-00-0thz Submission Conclusion and Future Discussion Waveform maxima and field magnitude monotonically decrease as the Tx/Rx distance increases with the path loss of 1dB/10cm. At least within 1meter, the data rate of 10~20Gbps is possible in the LOS environment. It is needed to –Measure the path loss beyond 1meter. –Measure the delay profile March 2009 Young-Chai Ko,Korea UniversitySlide 10
