DensityDensity

Density Definition: The amount of matter in a given space.

D = M/V Density = Mass/Volume Units= g/cm 3 or g/ml The secret to remember is…………..

Density Formulas Density = Mass/Volume Mass = Volume x Density Volume= Mass/Density

The density of a material is always the same, no matter, what the size of the mineral, liquid, etc. is.

You can compare the densities of two solids or liquids by measuring out the same volume and comparing their weights. The denser item will be heavier.

Density Density can also be described by how tightly packed molecules are in a given space.

Density is affected by: Temperature Pressure Salinity

Usually the colder the liquid, gas, etc. is the denser the material becomes. This increase in density happens because the same number of molecules occupy less space as they cool down and lose energy. Water behaves differently

Water Freezes and expands when temperature is lowered; greater volume and lower density Density of water = 1 g/cm 3

Which one is more dense?
