Section 5: Identity Theft

 Prevent myself from becoming a victim of fraud  If I become a victim of fraud, I will know what to do!

 Don’t share your info with ANYONE.  This includes your pin #, passwords, social security number, etc…  Don’t keep this info in your wallet or purse, or anywhere else that it could be easily found… If you must write it down, lock it in a safe somewhere!  Vary your passwords. It’s a pain, but if you use only one password for everything, you are in BIG trouble if someone gets it!

 Call financial institutions/card companies ASAP  Analyze past statements to see when fraud started  If necessary, contact the authorities. More often than not, identities are stolen by someone you know 

Limits liability for unauthorized credit card charges to $50.00 per card Must write a letter within 60 days of the first bill containing the error If a credit card number is used fraudulently but the card itself was not used, the individual has no personal liability

 Prevent myself from becoming a victim of fraud  If I become a victim of fraud, I will know what to do! I can prove this by completing activity 7.2
