Climate Change: When any of those things changes in a certain place for a long period of time Global Warming: A type of climate change where the earth gets warmer Ice age: A type of climate change where the earth gets colder Polar ice caps: Very large chunks of ice at the North and South poles of the earth. Smog: synonyms include: smoke, fumes, air pollution The Greenhouse Effect: The process of gasses holding warmth around the earth and making the earth warmer. Industrial Revolution: The period in history when people started using machines and factories to make things. Extreme weather vocabulary: Flood: too much water. Drought: not enough rain or water. Polar Vortex: very cold for several weeks. Heat Wave: very hot for several weeks. Hurricane: the same as a cyclone, it is a big storm with lots of wind and water. It only happens on America’s East coast and the Caribbean.
