Free write Before delving into the film clips and the reading, take about minutes to respond to the following questions. –Is music a powerful tool in teaching people morals, beliefs, and attitudes? –Do you feel that music influences your actions? –What factors influence your choices about what you listen to?

Can music make a person act violently for no reason other than the rhetoric of the music? Are people with an aggressive personality more likely to listen to violent music? Respond in a paragraph: “Violence that is blamed on music is really a cause of life's circumstances that cause some one to lash out at society.”

6. What is Miley Cyrus Promoting? After you watch the clips answer the following questions. List at least three things and explain using evidence. What is Miley Cyrus trying to prove? Who do you feel is to blame for her choices? Artists before her, growing up in the public eye, or herself ?

7. Do we really know the difference? Now you're going to play a game called What's the Difference? On the next slide you will be given lyrics. –Your goal: Are these rap lyrics or country lyrics? After you read each lyric, write down rap or country. (answers are on the last slide…don’t cheat!) –After you finish, respond to the following question. Rap music and country music: Is it the exact same product, but with different packaging?
