5 Statistics can be a Challenging Subject Statistics can be a Challenging Subject Most students struggle with Research Statistics. How should a student approach learning how to conduct quantitative research? Question this Morning!

6  The Purpose of the Research was to determine how to best learn the key components of Statistics.  Go from a theoretical framework  better approach to learning Rationale for a Quantitative Study

7 Dr. Tim Rowland’s Knowledge Quartet The adjusted framework included four main components: (a) Foundation, (b) Transformation, (c) Connection, and (d) Contingency. Does the theoretical framework impact an effective approach to learning how to execute effective research? Deductive Approach: begins with a theory and then hypotheses are tested to be confirmed or rejected. The epistemological approach provides a basis for how knowledge is acquired. Positivism is an approach to gaining knowledge that the importance of imitating the natural sciences for research approaches. Such an ontological emphasis would favor an objectivism research methodology as opposed to an constructionism methodology. Hence we embark on a Quantitative Research Study. Justification for a Research Approach

10 Research Question: What impact, if any, does a conceptual approach to teaching have on students learning ability for a research statistics course. H 0 : There is no measurable difference between students who receive instruction based on a conceptual approach to learning and those who learn from a more traditional teaching approach. H A : There is a measurable difference between students who receive instruction based on a conceptual approach to learning and those who learn from a more traditional teaching approach.
