4 Professional Responsibilities Domain 4 Together, the multiple measures of self-reflection and professional growth planning provide critical information in determining the overall effectiveness of the teacher - specifically on components 4A and 4E. 4A – Reflecting on Teaching 4E – Growing and Developing Professionally

5 Part A. Initial Reflection – Establishing Priority Growth Needs Part B: Connecting Priority Growth Needs to Professional Growth Planning Part C: On-going Reflection – Progress Towards Professional Growth Goal(s) Part D: Summative Reflection- level of attainment for Professional Growth Goal(s)

6 Part A Using the handout, “Initial Reflection on Practice” highlight the indicators that best describe your current teaching practice. Mark the indicators in the Framework for Teaching that you identified.

7 Part A Using your Framework for Teaching, match the indicators you highlighted on each component with the appropriate Performance Rating.

8 Part A Identify 3-4 components as possible professional growth targets.

9 Part A Based on the 3-4 possible components for professional growth, select one component for formal professional growth planning and identify your current level of performance.

10 Reflecting on Priority Areas & Professional Growth Goal 1. What do I want to change about my instruction that will effectively impact student learning? 2. What is my personal learning necessary to make the change? 3. What are the indicators (measures) of success?

11 Part B Using the priority area identified in Part A, write a professional growth goal that answers: 1. What do I want to change about my instruction that will effectively impact student learning? 2. What is my personal learning necessary to make the change? 3. What are the indicators (measures) of success? Record your goal in Part B of the Reflective Practice & Professional Growth Planning template.

12 Part B Practice creating an action plan for your goal, being sure to identify: specific strategies for professional learning needed resources/support timeline for implementation specific measures of goal attainment expected student growth impact documentation/evidence *This action plan will be collaboratively created with your administrator during full implementation.

13 Part A. Initial Reflection – Establishing Priority Growth Needs Part B: Connecting Priority Growth Needs to Professional Growth Planning Part C: On-going Reflection – Progress Towards Professional Growth Goal(s) Part D: Summative Reflection- level of attainment for Professional Growth Goal(s)

14 Part C Periodically reflect on your progress towards your goal and provide revisions and modifications to your strategies or activities needed to reach your goal.

15 Part D At the end of the year, do a final reflection, identify next steps, and your administrator will make a final connection to the Framework for Teaching performance levels for components 4A and 4E.
