2 Surfer Dude (Grahm Gober) 1. Define Internet. - A big computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide. 2. What types of things can and should the internet be used for? - To research, communication, and entertainment. 3. What does WWW stand for? How is it different than the internet? - World Wide Web. The world Wide Web is based on the internet. 4. What is a browser? Name two. - It’s a type of search engine. Bing and Google. 5. What do you use a search engine for? Name two that are geared towards kids. Ask kids.com and Galileo. - You use a search engine to gather information or for entertainment.

What can be done to promote safe internet surfing? - Allowing only the appropriate websites and banding the bad ones. 8. What type of information should be given out over the internet? What should not? - You shouldn’t give out any personal information like your date of birth or social security number or any type of private information. Information like your name or country is sometimes okay to give out. 9. List 5 items you think should be included on your Top 10 list of Internet Safety Tips. -1) Never Give Away Personal Information -2) Be Careful What You Say -3) Only Use Trusted Sites -4) Be sure to not have any virus. -5) Keep a fire wall updated to keep virus off your computer.

Why is spam such a problem? - It could possibly try to get your personal information and send bugs into your computer when you open it. 3. What should you do if you receive spam? - Immediately Delete It 4. What should you do with an e-mail attachment from someone you do not know? - DELETE IT! 5. Explain three ways a person can decrease the amount of spam they receive? - You can resist giving out your e-mail on untrusted websites 6. Describe two things you should do when sending an e-mail. - Be certain that all information is accurate and all attachments are attached - Make sure you use appropriate netiquette.

How is spam like an infection? - For one, no one wants or expects it. Also, it slows down and infects your computer. 9. List 5 items you think should be included on your Top 10 list of Internet Safety Tips. - Don’t talk to strangers - Be on only trusted websites - Don’t give personal information - Be sure to have no virus on your computer. - Be sure to have something protecting you from viruses.

List at least two problems that a person might encounter in a chat room. - 1) Someone Who Is Trying To Get Personal Information - 2) They might 3. What are some of the benefits of a chat room? - Meeting new people and communicating. 4. What are some of the downfalls or risks of a chat room? - Virus getting on your computer and inappropriate consent. 5. What should you do if you find something inappropriate or that makes you feel uncomfortable? - Exit out of it or tell your parents so that they can block it. 6. What type of information can you give out in a chat room? - Sometimes your name or your gender.

8 Netiquette Ned 1. Define netiquette. - The correct or acceptable way of communicating on the internet. 2. What is the basic rule of netiquette? - remember the standards or behavior, remember the human, and know that your in cyber space. Always respect others. 3. What is a flame? A flame war? How can you avoid a flame war? - A flame is a post or message in a thread that are considered off topic. - A flame war a series of discussions on the web that are off topic between two or more people. 4. Name two things you should remember about being online? - Be careful what you get on, and only get on appropriate websites. 5. Why should you stay away from using all capital letters? - Capital letters indicate you are screaming.

What is the difference between a public and a private e-mail message? - A public e-mail message is a message with a bunch of people viewing it. A private email message is when its only between you and another person and no one else can view it. 8. What is an emoticon? What can you use them for? Copy down at least two and what they mean. - An emoticon is a symbol to show the emotion you are in or the emotion your sentence is trying to show. To Show your emotion. this means your happy.  means your sad. 9.
