“You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.” Henry David Thoreau

Find the equation of a line given the slope and one point on the line, or given two points on the line.

If you know the slope is -4 and the y-intercept is 3….you can write an equation! y = -4x + 3

You know only the slope and x- intercept? Solve for y! x- intercept is 3 Slope is -4

(-2, 5) and (4, 8) Find the slope first. Then substitute one of the point into the equation to find the y-intercept. You now have an equation.

What is the equation? 1. Slope is 2; y-intercept is 15 1. Slope is -3; x –intercept is -3 1. (7, 7), and (2, -2)

What is the equation in slope intercept form passing through the given points? (4, -3), (3, -6) A) y = 3x -15 B) y = -1/3x -15 C) y = 3x + 15 D) y = -1/3x +15
