Often, my directions to you are to dump the waste into a beaker for me to take care of. What do I do with this waste? How do I know where it goes? 2. What environmental concerns do you think need to be taken into account when doing a lab? 3. What other (non-environmental) factors might cause us to use one chemical over another?

Principles of Green Chemistry Read through the 12 principles of green chemistry Share the work across your group Yellow: 1-4 Green: 5-8 Blue: 9-12 In your notebook, rewrite the principles in your own words Discuss each of the principles with your tablemates As a group, choose the 3 most important principles for our class to take into account

5. MSDS Information Read through the MSDS for Ethanol As you read, fill out the sheet (back of your green chemistry principles) Think about who might use this information – why do MSDSs exist????

7. Pre-lab Assignment Read background information Write a 1-2 sentence purpose statement for this lab Using the supplementary procedure, answer pre-lab questions 1-3 Flow chart the Introductory Activity (NOT the supplementary procedure!!) Due tomorrow – Hair tied back, no loose/baggy clothing!
