Gates automation

Summary  Choosing the appropriate model  Faac Product Range (Sliding Gates)

Choosing the appropriate model The status of the gate structure has a direct influence on the automation safety and reliability The gate structure must be suitable for automation. The following are necessary in particular: wheel diameter must be in proportion to the weight of the gate to be automated, an upper guide must be provided, plus mechanical stop limits to prevent the gate derailing. The soil must permit sufficient stability for the foundation plinth. There must be no pipes or electric cables in the plinth excavation area. If the gearmotor is exposed to passing vehicles, install, if possible, adequate means of protection against accidental impact. Check if an efficient earthing is available for connection to the gearmotor. The mechanical travel limit presence is mandatory

Choosing the appropriate model It is good to comply with customer requests if technically possible, otherwise it is advisable to suggest the most suitable technical solution You must choose the operator based on: - the application type (residential, condominial, industrial) - weight of the sliding gate - length of the sliding gate (15 m maximum) - In case, suggest the customer to use double sliding gate - always check that the operator complies with the requested duty cycle

Installation Prepare a foundation plinth and wall the foundation plate, supplying one or more sheaths for routing electric cables. Using a spirit level, check if the plate is perfectly leveled. Wait for the cement to set.

Installation Lay the electric cables for connection to the accessories and power supply To make the connections efficiently, allow the cables to project by about 40 cm from the hole of the foundation plate.

Installation Fix mechanically the operator using the supplied side brackets. Adjust the operator height according to the manual specs

Installation Position the nylon rack or the chain, depending on you installation specifications

Installation Make sure that there is always some space between the pinion and the rack (at least 1,5 / 2 mm). If the rack you are using has slots instead of holes for the fixing, place the screw on the top position. This will be useful in the future when the gate settling will need a rack position adjustment: the gate will lower, and you will have space to raise the rack.

Summary  Choosing the appropriate model  Faac Product Range (Sliding Gates)

740/1 Maximum gate weight: 500 kgs (740) / 900 kgs (741) Only available with Z16 pinion Quick and easy installation thanks to the built-in, prewired control unit. Anti-crushing protection is ensured by an electronic device directly controlling drive torque. As the gearmotor is non reversing, no electric locks need to be installed. In the event of power failure, the rotation of the key protected release device makes it possible to open and close the gate manually. Simplifed “on display” programming. Magnetic limit switch.

740/1 Rated duty cycle is 30% (740) or 40% (741)

746 ER Maximum gate weight: 600 kgs (Z16 pinion) / 400 kgs (Z20 pinion) Available in CAT (chain transmission) configuration and RF configuration (chain with idle transmission) Maximum anti-crushing safety by coupling the twin-disk oil-bath clutch with the electronic device and encoder. As the gearmotor is non reversing, no electric locks need be installed. Key protected lever release device. Magnetic limit switch device, simplifed installation of limit switch magnets Designed for height and side adjustable fastening. Control board, protected by a housing, for simplifed programming via display.

746 ER Rated duty cycle is 70%

844 ER Maximum gate weight: 1800 kgs (Z16 pinion) – ERZ16 model Available in CAT (chain transmission), RF (chain with idle transmission) and R (without pinion) configurations Ideal for commercial and industrial applications. Anti-crushing safety. As the gearmotor is non reversing, no electric locks need to be installed In the event of power failure, the key-operated release device makes it possible to open and close the gate manually. Twin-disk clutch in oil-bath. Inductive or magnetic limit switch (according to model).

844 ER Rated duty cycle is 70%

Troubleshooting Common problems to be solved -The gate doesn’t move -Motor starts but the gate doesn’t move -The gate is opening 20/40 cm then stops and reverses -The gate can’t reverse -The gate doesn’t open when receiving and OPEN signal -The gate remains opened

Troubleshooting The gate doesn’t move Check that: The electronic board is powered The capacitor is correctly connected between the two motor phases LEDs on the electronic board are correctly lit up The clutch is correctly adjusted The force on the electronic board is correctly setup If the encoder is not present, disable it in the parameters

Troubleshooting The motor starts but the gate doesn’t move Check that: The capacitor is correctly connected between the two motor phases LEDs on the electronic board are correctly lit up The clutch is correctly adjusted The force on the electronic board is correctly setup If the encoder is not present, disable it in the parameters

The gate is opening 20/40 cm then stops and reverses Troubleshooting Check that: The gate doesn’t have any friction over the entire route The encoder sensitivity is correctly regulated If the encoder is not present, disable it in the parameters The gate can’t reverse its direction Check the clutch regulation

Troubleshooting The gate doesn’t open when receiving and OPEN signal Check that: LEDs on the electronic board are correctly lit up The whole radio system is correctly connected and setup. When sending and OPEN signal from the remote control, the OP-A should light up.

Troubleshooting The gate remains opened Check that: The closing photocells are not engaged (this happens when FSW-CL is off) There isn’t any OPEN pulse always on
