1
Robotics in Education How robotics can help students engage in STEAM learning
2
What is robotics? The branch of technology that deals with the design, construction and program of robots. What is a robot? A device that automatically performs complicated often repetitive or dangerous tasks and can take several forms
3
“A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words“ Why robotics in education?
4
Who is it for? Students from second through 12th grade. Students of any academic background
5
What is it for? Students work as young scientists, engineers, mathematicians and creative writers. Using these materials, students are encouraged to build and program a working model and then use the model for different purposes, depending on the activity and its subject matter in science, technology, mathematics or language
6
What we use?
8
Science Transmission of motion and transfer of energy through the machine. Identify the simple machines mechanisms at work in the models, including levers, gears, and pulleys. Become familiar with complex motion using a worm gear and crown gear. Understand that friction can affect the movement of the model. Data Logging: Able to see second by second the changing (Temperature, acceleration..)
9
Technology Program and create a working model. Compare natural systems with mechanical systems. Students develop code to robotics. Express an algorithm in a language. Identify, Predict, Analyze Data and draw conclusions.
10
Engineering Build, program, and test the models. Modify a model’s behavior by changing the mechanical system or by adding a sensor to provide feedback. Brainstorm to find creative alternative solutions. Learn to share ideas and work together.
11
Arts
12
Mathematics Measure time in seconds and tenths of a second. Estimate and measure the distance in centimeters or inches. Find Angles. Understand the concept of a ratio to describe relationship between two quantities. Ex: Wheel Rotations and Distance Traveled.
