2 Introduction The book of Esther reads like a good news/bad news story Bad NewsGood News Born into slavery in foreign land Her family is together Her parents die leaving her an orphan She is raised by her cousin Mordecai The selfish king is scooping up all the beautiful girls for a pageant If she doesn’t satisfy the king she will have to remain in his harem her whole life She wins the pageant Haman is so mad at her he gets permission to have all the Jews Killed

3 In Crisis We Learn Our Purpose (Es 4:11-14)

4 God is Looking for People to Stand and Serve Him

5 Use Your Fear as an Avenue to Find Your Faith (Es 4:15-17) Esther finally realizes her responsibility If she goes to the king she may perish If she Does not go before the king she will surely perish Esther shows us what we need to do for courage She fasted, prayed, and waited on the Lord

6 Like Esther, We Must Place Our Faith in God

7 Conclusion (Es 7:3-6) When you are afraid, what is at it’s source, are you focused solely on yourself? Does being self-conscious keep you from sharing God’s Word Does fear of embarrassment keep you from inviting others into your home? Does fear of rejection keep you from reaching out to a new neighbor? What fears do you have today…Are you ready to put your faith in God?
