1 Dressing up for the 80s dance number This is our opening number and should be a blast of color so that it will contrast with our closing number (black and silver). If you need to use black, use it as an accent, not as your main color. For the ladies select a combination of neons: hot pink, bright yellow, bright blue, purple, apple green, tangerine --- then just mix and match with accessories. For the men the color is more subdued: dark brown, maroon, olives. Avoid black. The following slides provide some concrete examples of clothing and accessories that you can easily put together to create an “80’s look”. If you jar your memory a bit it may all come back to you….so look into your closets, perhaps everything you need is still there!!!! Or your kids could be wearing the stuff you need. Most importantly, have fun!

2 Neons: hot pink, apple green, bright yellow. Use black only to accent the color Contrasting but coordinated colors of neon leggings, stilettos, short skirts or tunics. Prints and plains, mixed. Colored shades / sunglasses rims in yellow, blue, white, red, orange (not black). Colored WAYFARERS! Colored leg warmers Preppy: hats, pink flower accessories, pussy cat glasses, polka dot headbands with ribbons at the top Neon Jellies! Colored coordinated plastic bangles Anything Madonna, Cyndi or Olivia Sweat head bands Leggings with tutu skirts and pumps KEYWORDS: CUTE FUN ACTIVE CONFIDENT

3 WAYFARERS!!! Colored high cut rubber shoes with colored or printed, striped or eccentric shoe laces (neon) Slightly rolled up pants at the ankles with white or grey socks showing while you walk. Suspenders on striped shirts, shirts with Nehru collars rolled up at the elbow and preppy Lacoste shirts. Layered look: shirt, vest, jackets with collars turned up Boy George Hats and T- shirts with rubberized messages on the environment. Pants that crumple at the ankles. THIN TIES with shirts unbuttoned at the neck Macho man leather jackets, hats and chains KEY WORDS: ALOOF CONFIDENT RELAXED
