3 Timeline March 20 th last day to submit drawings April 29 th 50 state winners announced and public voting begins. May 9 th public vote ends. May 21 st Final awards celebration for the 50 state winners at Google’s Headquarters in Mountain View, California. June 9 th Winning animated Doodle displayed on the Google homepage.

5 Two Hundred and Fifty (250) State Finalists 250 doodles from across the country will be chosen by a panel of Google employees based on which doodles they feel best represent the theme "If I Could Invent One Thing to Make the World a Better Place...". In each state, one doodle will be selected in each grade group, meaning each grade group and each state will be equally represented.

6 Fifty (50) State Winners The Guest Judges and Google doodlers will select the best doodle from each of the 50 states as the State Winner. These 50 State Winners will be displayed in an online gallery on the Doodle 4 Google website.

7 Five (5) National Finalists The U.S. public will vote for their favorite doodle from the 50 State Winners. Online voting will take place from April 29, 2014 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) to May 9, 2014 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The highest ranking doodler from each grade group will be named as a National Finalist. We will announce the five National Finalists (1 per grade group), in an awards ceremony held at the Google Headquarters in California on May 21, 2014. Prizes: Each of the class group winners will receive a Chromebook

8 One (1) National Winner At the final event, one of the five National Finalists will be named the "National Winner of Doodle 4 Google" and the national winner’s doodle will be featured on the U.S. Google homepage on June 9, 2014 for 24 hours, after being animated by the Doodle team.

9 One (1) National Winner The National Winner will have his or her doodle featured on the U.S. Google.com homepage. He or she will be awarded a $30,000 college scholarship to be used at a school of his or her choice, a trip to the Google Headquarters in California for the final awards ceremony on May 21st, 2014, a Google Chromebook computer, an Android tablet, and a t- shirt printed with his or her doodle on it. Four (4) National Finalists Each of the other four National Finalists will win a $5,000 college scholarship to be used at the school of their choice, a trip to the Google Headquarters in California for the final awards ceremony on May 21st, 2014, an Android tablet, and a t-shirt printed with his or her doodle on it. Fifty (50) State Winners Each of the other 50 State Winners will win a trip to the Google Headquarters in California for the final awards ceremony on May 21st, 2014, an Android tablet, and a t-shirt printed with his or her doodle on it. Two Hundred and Fifty (250) State Finalists Each of the other State Finalists will receive an official winner’s certificate and their Doodles will be featured on the Doodle 4 Google website.

10 Judging Criteria Doodles will be judged based on the following three categories: Artistic Merit: based on grade group and artistic skill. Creativity: based on the representation of the theme and use of the Google logo. Theme Communication: How clearly the competition theme is expressed in both the artwork and the written statement. Disqualifications Doodles that contain copyrighted images or logos will be automatically disqualified. Only one application per student. If more than one is submitted only the first will be considered and those thereafter will be disqualified.
