7 What kind of books do teenagers choose to read? Teenagers most often read fiction of two kinds: For everyone-fantasy, science-fiction, horror For young readers- which is an outstanding group of novels promoted after a great commercial succes on the market, for example novels about vampires interfering with teenagers’ lives such as „Twilight” by S.Meyer

8 Another kind of literature which teenagers like reading is realistic literature. Here, books are mainly the source of knowledge. They should be about real problems of growing up, relationships among family members, first love, friendship and peers (i.e.books by Martha Fox)

9 Reading versus the internet  One in ten users of the internet read books on the internet.  Much more- 39% of young people read shorter texts and articles on-line.  44% read book reviews on-line before they read a book of their interest.  The internet has replaced reading as a pastime, reading science and using, dictionaries or encyclopedias in the shape of a traditional book.

10 Interesting facts Girls are more active readers than boys and they use more sources to get the books they want to read Kids most often borrow books from school or public libraries The youngest readers tend not to read whole books The number of readers is dropping with age Teenagers living in cities read more than those living in villages Attitude to reading is ‘’inherited’’ from parents
