3.  Two-pronged approach to reach out target population groups:  Direct work with target women, children and communities:  Supporting Government institutions for underprivileged women and children  Mobilizing communities in urban slums of Jaipur : Multipurpose Jai Ho Centers  Influencing policies and programs related to our key target groups by working with government and other relevant stakeholders.  Focus of direct work with target population  Need-based Vocational training  Psycho-social and emotional counseling aimed at holistic development.  Educational support to improve the academic prospects and literacy skills of children and women.  Health education and promotion to improve health literacy  Increasing Awareness on social issues.

4. Support to government-run institutions (Social Welfare Department, GOR) for women and children: Balika Grah, Mahila Sadan Kishore Grah Community-level work: 9 slums of Jaipur—Jai Ho Centers, Kishanpura (Bassi)—Afterschool center for girls

6.  Houses girls aged 6-18 years in 3 key categories: Girls abandoned as infants and do not get adopted (stay till 18 years) Girls rescued from streets (stay till 18 years) Girls brought under Juvenile Justice (JJ) law (temporary residents)  On average 50-60 girls at a time.  SMILE’s main activities : Emotional and psycho-social Counseling, Educational support On-site vocational trainings, Short courses for overall engagement of children Rehabilitation including re-uniting with their families. SMILE Staff: one full-time counsellor two part-time trainers Funding: Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, and by individual donations

10.  Houses women aged 18 years or more Abandoned by their families for various reasons (including mental sickness), Violence-victims. Girls transferred from Balika Grah on attaining 18 years  Average 100-125 women at a time.  SMILE activities ;- Counseling (including yoga) & other engagement activities to help women recover from emotional and mental trauma. On-site vocational trainings (Stitching, Embroidery, Beauty-culture, computer operation) Education (basic literacy skills)  SMILE Staff: One full-time counsellor Two part-time trainers  Funding: Department of Social Justice and Empowerment

13.  Home for destitute boys of age 6-18 years Children abandoned by parents as infants or at older age (stay till 18 years) Children brought under the JJ Act. (stay for short period)  On average 40-50 children at a time  SMILE main activities are : Moral education & Counseling, On-site vocational training (Computer operation, Plumbing & Electrical, Mobile repairing & Caning) Facilitating in-school education.  SMILE Staff: One full-time counsellor One Part-time trainers  Funding: by donations received by SMILE

22.  Objective: to ensure holistic development and improve future academic & life prospects of rural girls (VII-IX) studying in Govt. schools by providing supplementary educational inputs.  Strategy:  After-school class room teaching for 3 hours six days a week.  Qualified teachers to provide additional inputs in Science, maths, English & computer  Computer labs  Extracurricular activities & life-skill education(including self-defense) for soft skills & holistic development  Conseling on social, youth, health, nutrition and sanitation issues.  Additional nutritional inputs  Staffing: Coordinator, life-skill educator, 4 teachers  Total beneficiaries: 42 girls (13-15 years enrolled in 7 th to 9 th standard)  Funding: Primavera & Bosch (a German NGO)
