DIRECTIONS-2 MIN. 1.Get into appropriate groups 2.Each person on team will be given a role during planning stage: a)Planner: Write down group responses to the questions after reading. b)Runner/Writer: This person is responsible for writing and sending telegrams to other countries. c)Speaker: This person will present their case before the world court at the end. d)NOTE: OVER HALF THE GROUP WILL SPEAK AT THE WORLD COURT.

STEP 1: 7-10 MIN. Each country is given a paper of information about their county’s political situation. Each team should read their paper IN SECRET and answer the questions in secret. Write your responses on your own paper, and then the planner/writer will write down how the team overall wants to handle the situation.

STEP 2: 10-15 MIN. Runners can now write secret messages to other Countries. Countries will decide what they want to write to other countries. You can handle this a variety of ways. a)One country would be willing to join in a treaty with another country. Ex: One country backs up another country if they declare war on someone. b)Some countries may want to play both sides meaning they form secret alliances with two different countries without those countries knowing. c)Remember: These are secret messages and other countries are not supposed to know about them.

STEP 3: WORLD COURT (20 MIN.) Take 2 minutes to gather your thoughts as a country because you will speaking within the world court. All of your countries will come together for a world summit to discuss how to reach a solution to their problems. I will preside as leader of this summit. Speakers will lay out their plan of action. EXPLAIN WHY!!!!!! Second round of discussion will take place as countries respond to accusations from other countries. This is where you can defend your country or could make public why another country is either trustworthy or non-trustworthy. This is where your team earns most of their grade.

FINAL THOUGHTS Essential question: What conclusion do you think your country came up with? World? How did you defend your own Nationalism by representing your fake countries today?
