Sun King con’t Divine Right of Kings- god gave him his power L’estate c’est moi- I am the state! Limited power of nobility- most powerful nobles had to live in the court Built standing army and navy- over 400,000 Repealed Edict of Nantes- 200,000 Hugenots fled country
