3   1. Warm-Up (5-7 min): When considering your identity how important is your family in the development of who you are? How important is your word or promise when considering your identity? Explain.  2. What values do you consider to be important in your family? What values do you consider to be a part of your identity? Where did your values come from? Explain. Were values an integral part of your family life growing up? Explain your response.  3. How does our behavior shape or create the values that we embody?  Purpose: Students reflect on the values and characteristics of their own families. GOAL: To articulate their own values and priorities Students then watch “Three Promises” Warm-Up/Hook

4 1. Who do you see in the photos? Describe their relationship. 2. Which events are presented in the photos?. 3. What do you think their life is like? 4. Where do you think they live? 5.Do you have similar photos in your family album? 6.What values seem to be present in this photo? Explain.

5   Students bring boxes to class.  They are instructed to put themselves “inside” the box.  Items, pictures, materials that represent who they are at this point in their lives. Things that have shaped their values and identity.  Students present the boxes in a 5-10 presentation explaining in detail all the aspects of the box. Creating Identity Boxes
