4 1.The sum of two numbers is 26. Their difference is 4. Find the smaller number. 2.There are 38 students in an English class. There are 8 more boys than girls. How many boys are there? EXAMPLES DON’T FORGET TO DEFINE YOUR VARIABLES!!!

5 3.The perimeter of a rectangle is 74. The length is 5 more than the width. What are the measures of the sides? 4.Two angles are complementary. One of them is 4 times the other. Find the measure of the smaller angle. EXAMPLES

6 EXAMPLE 5.A collection of nickels and quarters is worth $13.50. There are 78 coins in all. How many of each are there?

7 EXAMPLE 6.There were 512 people at the Talent Show. Admission was $1.25 for adults and $0.50 for children. The receipts were $406.75. How many of each attended?
