2. Human Services & Public Safety Policy Committee Mission & Role Policy Advisory Body: To the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Board of Directors. Purpose:Develop and maintain all policies, plans, agreements and programs, other than those specifically assigned to other units within COG, concerning human services and public safety issues. Program Areas: Law enforcement, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, Corrections, Animal Services, Aging, Public Health, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Foster Care, Child Care, and Housing programs. 2
