Evolving and improving over time Contains for most part data already published by CSO and other organisations ( some exceptions (CSO)– aviation and road traffic volumes)) HOWEVER, it is resource intensive – 3-4 months for collection and collation of data for publication It covers the following domains : TranSG meeting 19th September 2013

7 Recent developments NTA propose publishing a comprehensive compendium of transport statistics TranSG meeting 19th September 2013

8 Any overlap? NTA publication main focus is on land transport 22% of items to be covered in NTA publication already in CSO omnibus The following items in the CSO omnibus publication are not included in the proposed NTA compendium: Data on vehicles other than cars licensed for the first time Driver & vehicle testing – driving licenses, NCT and driving tests Penalty points Aviation transport Maritime transport TranSG meeting 19th September 2013

9 Future of omnibus – options for consideration 1.The omnibus does not cover all transport statistics – is it fit for purpose? 2.Joint publication with NTA or NTA to take complete responsibility 3.Majority of CSO statistics in the omnibus are already in the public domain, is there a need to publish them again? Same comment applies to contributory organisations. 4.Aviation and road traffic volumes although on statbank could potentially be published in separate release format also. 5.Contributory organisations could embrace the potential of statbank – quicker and more efficient release of data. 6.Views of users welcome Do you use it extensively? Format and content – any suggestions for improvement? Should there be more or less content? Written observations requested by 19 th October 2013. TranSG meeting 19th September 2013
