Eco Moms = Eco Friendly Family ●Working Moms ●Students ●Under the age of 35 ●Raising busy families that require heavy driving ●Prepare meals on a regular basis (includes meat-less days) ●Wash clothes for a total of 7 occupants, 2 of which are toddlers ●Recycle ●Donate Clothes ●Organic Home Gardens ●E-Bills

Our Impact Energy ●Our average natural gas usage is 780 Therms annually ●Our average electrical usage is 8,454 Kwh annually Transportation ●Our average mileage annually is 15,000 Water ●Our annual average water usage is 163,000 gallons

Carbon Calculations (Metric Tons) SusanaStephanie

Personal Carbon Footprint Comparison Average Annual Household Carbon Footprint by County 40.4 Our Annual Average Household footprint

Local Carbon Emissions In Napa County -- 2.6 billion pounds of greenhouse gases annually A study done to reduce California’s Greenhouse Gases Vehicles generate more than half of total Napa County greenhouse gases: 55 %

California Transportation: Napa - 55% vs. California 38%

United States Carbon Emissions

World Annual carbon dioxide emissions [tonnes] per capita

Changes We Can Make at Home ~Turn off faucet while brushing teeth and shaving. ~Short showers instead of baths ~Wash only full loads of laundry with cold water ~Recycle old cell phones and electronics ~Donate old items ~Use reusable grocery bags ~Use rechargeable batteries ~Buy products with the least amount of packaging ~Do not use extra plastic bags for meat/vegetables at the grocery store

Proposal for National Reform We should be looking at alternate energy sources like photovoltaic cells (solar panels) Make sure appliances are energy efficient. Buy electric cars. Pass laws to require companies to find new ways to package products. We need more government incentives to promote cleaner living.

Summary Conclusions Around seven billion people live on our planet, so we impact the planet greatly. We have a lasting imprint on earth’s land, water and air and we need to decrease our mark. We think only about ourselves and instant gratification instead of the long term effect that our decisions have on our surroundings. We need to think about the planet for our kids and the following generations because our natural resources are in limited supply and are rapidly dwindling. We need to be conscious of our water consumption, the products we buy, where our waste is going and the resources that we are using. To make difference we need to start at home. Plastic Water Bottles vs Reusable bottle Cooking at Home vs Eating Out Plastic Bags vs Reusable Shopping bags

Industry is ranked #1 in carbon emissions, so we need to reform incentives for companies following environmental laws.
