2 —In the 1400’s, sailors from Europe started to look for new trade routes to the Far East, hoping to get rich. Over the next 300 years, most of the world was visited and mapped by European explorers. This time in history is called the “Age of Exploration,” or the “Age of Discovery.” 1.) Age of Exploration

10 9.) mercantilism Step 1: Colonies send raw materials back to the mother country Step 2: The raw materials are turned into manufactured goods Step 3: The manufactured goods are sold back to the colonies at a much higher price

15 13.) Old World The Old World is another name for the Eastern Hemisphere (Europe, Asia, and Africa).

16 14.) New World The New World is another name for the Western Hemisphere ( North America and South America)
