8 You must have 26 credits Those credits must include the following: 4 Language Arts 4 Math 4 Science 4 Social Studies 1 Health/PE 1 Pathway (3 classes of the same Fine Art/Technology/Foreign Language) 6 additional electives

10 If You Have Failed a Required Class, It is Your Responsibility to: Check on grades Contact a counselor/grad coach to determine options Review credit recovery options  Twilight School  Online options

11 How to be an Honor Graduate  A student must have a 90 or above GPA in their core classes by the end of the first semester of their senior year to Graduate with Honors. (Average 90 for all classes, not each class)  Eight of a student’s core classes must also be designated as Accelerated, Honors, Pre-AP, or AP.

12 Creating Your IGP All Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will have an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). The IGP’s will outline what students have taken (both credits earned and classes failed), the classes they are currently taking, as well as what they will need to take in order to graduate. The IGP’s are very easy to use Excel documents. will be your responsibility to keep them up to date.

14 What Should I Be Doing?? 8 th Graders  Choose a pathway that interests you  Get to know your academic advisor (homeroom teacher) & school counselor  Study! Build a solid foundation for high school 9 th Graders  Take challenging classes  Study! 9 th grade goes on your transcript which colleges will see!  Find out about college entrance requirements. 3 rd foreign language

15 Pathways All students are required to select a pathway and complete three courses in their pathway. The purpose is to help students plan coursework and set career goals. The various pathways offered at SHS are:

32 Hope Scholarship and Zell Miller Scholars To qualify for the HOPE Scholarship, a student must:  Earn a minimum of 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all academic classes (e.g., Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language)  Must meet Georgia residency requirements and be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen  Complete four “advanced” classes. All math, science, and foreign language classes offered at SHS are considered “rigorous” by the state of Georgia’s HOPE requirements. To qualify for the Zell Miller scholarship, a student must:  Meet all of the requirements above  Must be their high school’s valedictorian or salutatorian, OR earn a 3.7 high school GPA or higher and post, in one sitting, an SAT combined score of 1200 or higher in math and reading or an ACT score of 26 or higher.
