Roof Top Solar  Interconnection Agreement: http://www.yvea.com/content/renew able-energy-interconnection http://www.yvea.com/content/renew able-energy-interconnection

Size  25KW residential, 150KW commercial  120% of average demand, not average expense  HB 08-1169- “Each coop assn shall allow residential customer- generators to generate…up to ten KW and Commercial or Industrial up to twenty-five KW”  HB 15-1377 “a subscriber’s share of the production from the (RG) facility shall not exceed 120% of the subscriber’s average annual consumption.”

Annual True-Up  Credit to account-may be used against consumer charges  Cut Check

Net Metering Rates  Choose Rate 50 ($.0651) VS Rate 52 ($.10)  Current Rates: Residential $.08215, Commercial $.08617

Performed by Yampa Valley Data Partners (YVDP) For Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) May, 2015 Preliminary Findings, Subject to Revision and Final Approval YVEA compliance pathway for SB-252 distributed generation requirement

Project Background CO SB252 requires co-operatives to meet 1% of their electricity sales by 2020 through distributed generation (DG) technologies. Qualifying technologies include: (1) solar; (2) wind; (3) hydro; and (4) biomass/biogas. DG obligation is split 50/50 between retail and wholesale, such that retail target is ½% (less industrial sales) and wholesale target is ½%. Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) has embarked upon an effort to understand the impact of this requirement on energy purchases and investments. YVEA has engaged Yampa Valley Data Partners (YVDP) to determine current and future DG compliance for retail and wholesale. The preliminary results of this analysis are presented herein.

YVEA Distributed Generation Requirement 1% of sales by 2020, 50/50 retail/wholesale split Source: YVDP calculations based on YVEA supplied data. ½% of total sales (590 GWh) (2,900 MWh) Large Power 1,263 Retail target 1,636 Retail Wholesale ½% of total sales (590 GWh) (2,900 MWh) Wholesale target 2,900 About 200 solar homes About 3 solar gardens

YVEA Retail DG Compliance (2015-2020) DG compliance obligation ½ of 1% of 580 GWh less industrial sales MWh 2020 5,287 MWh +223% over target 1,636 1,138 2,744 144 473 394 2015 4,026 MWh +146% over target 146% over 2020 target today…growing to 223% by 2020 ~$4k/year surplus REC revenue potential by 2020 @ $1/MWh Source: YVDP calculations based on YVEA supplied data. Expected projects ->

271% over 2020 target today…growing to 469% by 2020 ~$14k/year surplus REC revenue potential by 2020 @ $1/MWh Source: YVDP calculations based on YVEA supplied data. YVEA Wholesale DG Compliance (2015-2020) DG compliance obligation ½ of 1% of 580 GWh 2,900 2015 10,758 MWh +271% over target 10,758 3,504 745 1,489 2020 16,499 MWh +469% over target Expected projects ->

On the Horizon  More Distributed Generation  Cost of Service study: structure adjustment for grid access  Large scale solar  Storage technologies-peak power off-sets  Incentives for Solar from Coop?? Do our members want to pay for it?
