2 Language and Religion  The two official languages in Hong Kong are Chinese and English. The Cantonese dialect is also frequently used.  There is a large diversity of philosophical and religious beliefs.

3 Food  The basic food is rice and is often prepared with fish, pork, chicken, and vegetables.  Chopsticks are used with most meals.  When you eat, it is good manners to hold the rice bowl close to your mouth.

4 Population and Climate  Hong Kong has an estimated population of 5.78 million people in an area about half the size of Rhode Island.  The area is mostly mountainous and has a tropical climate with seasonal monsoons.
