2 VTT BUILDING AND TRANSPORT 30-31 March 2006 O2 Task Group2 Objectives to inform CEDR / NRAs of developments to alert CEDR / NRAs to matters that will directly affect them to facilitate information exchange between CEDR / NRA and the eSafety forum to prepare common views of NRAs on eSafety issues

3 VTT BUILDING AND TRANSPORT 30-31 March 2006 O2 Task Group3 Resources and expected outputs 8 CEDR members, 3-4 meetings/year, total of 60 person days/annum to gather information to prepare progress reports report back to CEDR for a total of approximately 60 person days per annum Progress reports shall be delivered twice a year until end of 2008 (EC planning), when the situation regarding eSafety shall be reassessed.

4 VTT BUILDING AND TRANSPORT 30-31 March 2006 O2 Task Group4 Tasks to be carried out Participation in eSafety Forum’s work and Implementation Road Map Working Group Recommendations on priority eSafety systems to be promoted from the NRA point of view Proposal for overall strategies for CEDR and NRAs in deployment and roll-out of eSafety systems Commence discussions between private and public road operators on common strategies related to eSafety Inform CEDR on eSafety developments Recommend CEDR and NRA actions when/where necessary

7 VTT BUILDING AND TRANSPORT 30-31 March 2006 O2 Task Group7 eSafety – current developments Intelligent Car Initiative: promotion of Intelligent Vehicle Safety Systems Three pillars: eSafety Forum and its working groups RTD and especially the Framework Programmes EC Communication in February 2006 New eSafety Forum Working Groups: RTD, Security?, Clean vehicle? Communication platform for improved user outreach

8 VTT BUILDING AND TRANSPORT 30-31 March 2006 O2 Task Group8 Implementation Road Maps WG Tentative Plans Work to be continued in 2006-2008 i.e. WG remains active Objective is to maintain and update the implementation road maps Updating the present road maps Consider new priority systems Simplified road map for decision makers More concrete road maps for eSafety Forum SG selected priority systems with timelines and responsibilities
