3 Interval and lunchtime in the library During the prelims (until 27 th Jan) the library should only be used for revision, study, homework and quiet reading*. *(Quietly doing the jigsaw is the only exception to the rule)

4 Paired Reading Scheme Due to a number of S6 pupils being involved in prelims, Paired Reading will not start now until Thursday 28th January. This is to ensure that we have enough S6 mentors available. I will see you downstairs in the library at registration on Thursday instead. Miss Monaghan

5 ATTENTION: ALL PUPILS WHO USE SCHOOL BUSES In cases of severe snow/ice you can check with your bus operator that morning in case pick up points have been changed. In severe weather buses may be unable to enter streets and housing estates due to roads not being gritted or operators deeming them as unsafe. If this happens buses will pick up on main roads.

6 Modern Apprenticeship in Procurutment City of Edinburgh Council How would you like to assist the Procurement team in buying everything from vehicles and new schools to the fairground rides for Edinburgh’s Christmas festivities? The modern apprentice would be part of the Commercial and Procurement team who are responsible for buying all of the goods and services that the Council requires. You must be interested in Data and will use your existing IT skills and talents and learn lots of new ones during your time with the department. This could be the start of a very interesting career and you may have the opportunity to progress onto further training. 9 S4 Bronze Group Next Training Session will be Wednesday 27 th Jan, 3.30 – 5pm (NOTE change from advertised date due to prelims, see Mr Boyle or Miss McDonald before the session if there's any problems)

10 S1-S2 Masterchef Cookery Club The S1-S2 cookery club will be starting back 2 nd of February but this time with a Masterchef theme! Every Tuesday 3:45-5pm (approx) in the H.E Dept. A variety of sweet and savoury dishes will be made with the cost of £1.50 each week. If you are interested collect a consent letter from Miss McDonald and return ASAP. Spaces filled up very quickly last time.

11 Lasswade WW1 Battlefields Trip Next Instalment of £100 is now due. It should be paid by no later than 27 th January. Please bring next instalment and payment card to Mr McKay in Room 216

12 Creative Writing Club S1 – S6 Wednesday lunchtimes In the library

13 S1-2 Young Engineers The Lasswade Young Engineers Club will take place on Monday at 3:45pm until 4:45pm in room 011 in the Design Technology Corridor.

14 Burns’ Supper All 6 th years welcome Thursday 28 th January Starts at 6.30pm Tickets cost £8 Tickets can be bought in the atrium at break and lunch

16 Berlin 2016 Next payment of £100 is now due. Please hand in at the office or bring to Mr Murray RM 116!

17 Barcelona Trip June 2016 A Space has become available on the Barcelona Trip. If you are interested in joining this trip please come and see Miss Anstruther in Room 205

18 Swaziland 2016 The next round of fitness testing needs to be completed by the middle of February. It is compulsory that you attend one of the sessions below. You must see Miss Lyon to sign up for either: Wednesday 3rd February Lunchtime Friday 5th February after school (12:15-2:15) Both sessions will take place in the Games Hall

Remember to wear school uniform to and from the games.

23 Well done to both S1 teams (red and black) playing against Clifton Hall and Dunbar at the weekend. It is a huge achievement to have two teams playing!!

27 Athletics There will be a short meeting on TODAY at interval in the PE department for those athletes attending the upcoming athletics event in Glasgow
