2 Creating Charts 1.Excel for windows can produce 14 standard type and 20 custom types of graphs or charts, with many different format for each type. 2.To create chart you need to 3.Select Insert menu and select chart menu item 4.Or Select chart wizard button in formatting tool bar 5.Then you will get chart wizard window 6.This window having 4 steps

3 Step 1: Chart Type 1.This window help you to select the type of chart you want to insert your information. 2.Window consist of two tabs 3.Standard type and Custom type 4.Standard type include chart type and chart sub type 5.Custom type include chart type, sample and select from 6.After selecting your options from this section you need to click next button 7.Then new window will get open

4 Step 2: Chart Source Data 1.In this section we need to input all necessary data information to our chart. Here we got two tabs namely Data Range and Series. 2.Data Range You need to select the necessary data range and also show how you like to display your chart series row or column wise. 3.Series Here you can give the series names and also category X axes label 4.After entering all information related to this page click next button

5 Step 3: Chart Option 1.This section helping you to enter the titles, axes, gridlines, legends, data labels and data table. Using each tab we need to fill necessary information which you like to display in your chart. 2.Titles: Chart title, Category X axes and Y axes 3.Axes: Here you can add or remove detials regarding X and Y axes. 4.Gridlines: Help you to add or remove major and minor gridlines in side the chart 5.Legends: helps you to keep or remove legends of the chart and also fixed that in different places as you wish.

6 Step 3: Chart Option 6.Data Labels: helps you to add or remove different type of data label keys to your chart 7.Data Table: helps you to add or remove table under the chart

7 Step 4: Chart Location 1.The last step of chart wizard is selection of chart location which you like to place your created chart. 2.In this we can place our chart in two different places. 3.Special chart sheet 4.In to the different worksheets 5.Before you click the finish button you need to select one location where you want to insert your chart then click finish button.

8 Sizing a Chart 1.As you can see the default chart size is too small to fully display all parts of the chart. After selecting the chart you can make customer resizing using the mouse 2.Adjusting outer border of a chart 3.Adjusting inner border of a chart 4.Bring the mouse pointer on to the edge of the chart and then the pointer will change to double heeded arrow at that movement click and hold the left mouse button and drag it.

9 Changing the Type of Chart 1.Select chart, Chart menu, Chart type menu item 2.Or Right click on chart and select chart type menu item 3.Or Chart type button in chart tool bar (view, toolbars) 4.Select chart type 5.Click ok

10 Changing the Chart Options 1.Select chart, Chart menu, Chart options menu item 2.Or Right click on chart and select chart options menu item 3.Select necessary options 4.Click ok

11 Changing the Source Data 1.Select chart, Chart menu, Source data menu item 2.Or Right click on chart and select source data menu item 3.Select necessary options 4.Click ok Changing the Location 1.Select chart, Chart menu, Location menu item 2.Or Right click on chart and select location menu item 3.Select necessary options 4.Click ok

12 Formatting Chart 1.Select area of a chart that you want to format Chart area, Plot area, Data Series, Data Point 2.Right click on that area 3.Select format …….. 4.Select necessary options 5.Click ok
