6 FAMILY MEDICINE INTRODUCTION COURSE
Attendance 40% (≥ 72%, if less than that; candidate will repeat rotation) Summative Assessment: Written exam – MCQ (= 60%) Pass Mark is 70%

7 FAMILY MEDICINE ADVANCED COURSE
Duration: 6 weeks Level: R3 Attendance 10% (≥ 72%, if less than that; candidate will repeat rotation) Written exam – MCQ (= 60%) Pass Mark is 70%

15 Half Day Release Course (HDRC)

16 There should be one session of four hours duration, once weekly
There should be one session of four hours duration, once weekly. Residents should to be released from their commitments in rotations or any block courses during this time. Main Themes (60-80% of sessions): Presentations by trainees, small groups and workshops facilitated by trainers.

Journal Clubs Consultation Skills Principles of Family Medicine Approach to various clinical problems Hot Topics and EBM Topics Skills Workshops

18 Regulations For each session there will be one resident and one trainer responsible for conduction and organizing the whole session. The entire group should participate actively in preparing and during the activities.

19 The trainees should contact their supervisors at least 2-3 weeks before the presentation to discuss the timetable, presentation(s) Educational activities should have different educational methods and strategies but passive learning methods such as lecturing should be avoided.

20 Trainees Attendance Attendance should registered and a copy of the attendance record will be kept to ensure that trainees are attending the minimum. Each trainee must attend a minimum of 75% of the sessions. If absence of trainee exceeds 25% in the 1st 6 months of the academic year, a warning letter is to be sent to him or her.

21 Trainees who continue to attend < 75% with no acceptable reason will be denied their promotion to the next residency level.

23 REASEARCH METHODOLOGY COURSE
Duration: 3 Weeks Level: R2

24 Objectives By the end of this module, residents will be able to: 1. Write a protocol for medical research 2. Formulate research question 3. Plan and execute medical research 4. Critically evaluate research 5. Extrapolate results from research and apply to clinical practice

25 Assessment 1. Submission of approved research protocol (30%)
2. Written Assessment: (70%) Problem management 50 MCQ 3. Pass mark is 70% of aggregate of both Attendance more than 90% is a prerequisite to sit end of rotation exam At the end of research module (3 weeks) candidate should submit protocol is a prerequisite to sit end of rotation exam

27 RESEARCH FIELD WORK Duration: 4 weeks Level: R2
To ensure that the resident is capable of preparing, undertaking and writing up a research project related to Family & Community Medicine.

28 ELECTIVE ROTATION Duration: 8 weeks Level: R3
Acquire knowledge and skills in special area of interest Achieve wide spectrum of clinical experience according to learning needs.

29 Special interest areas related to Family Medicine include
Quality improvement Elderly care Home care Adolescence medicine Diabetic care Rehabilitation medicine Occupational medicine Others as appropriate

30 Certificates and courses required
Candidate should attend the following: Basic cardiac life support (BCSL) Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) EBHC course attendance is a prerequisite for all training programs of the Saudi commission for Healthcare specialties. BCSL and ACLS Certificates are prerequisite to sit Part Two of the Saudi Board Exam
