3. What Does Our Culture Say? Lie #1: “Homosexuality is normal and healthy.” Lie #2: “If you’re attracted to someone of the same sex, that means you’re gay or lesbian.” Lie #3: “Embrace and celebrate your gay identity, because gay life is cool.” Lie #4: “Since you were born that way, you can’t change.” Part one in our study 1.It is NOT normal or healthy 2.SSA is a natural, God given stage in development 3.It is incredibly harmful in every way and not “cool” at all. 4.No evidence says one is born this way, and more have changed than not.

4. How Were Past Cultures Instructed? …just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. (Jude 1:7 ESV) Genesis 19 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22 ESV) If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13 ESV) God’s People

5. Why Were Past Cultures Instructed? For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4 ESV) Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. …We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did … Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. (1 Corinthians 10:6-11 ESV) God’s People

6. How Shall We Consider Homosexuality Today? For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, …Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie …For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. (Romans 1:18-28 ESV)

7. How Shall We Consider Homosexuality Today? Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV)

8. How Shall We Resist the Influence? Based on the facts behind homosexuality? Put our homes in order… Ephesians 5:33  Model being men and women of faith Admonish our children... Ephesians 6:4  Explain, study/pray with them, stay close to them Direct children in the way… Proverbs 22:6  Including their associations, talk/listen to them, warn

9. How Shall We Resist the Influence? Teach and Remember the Gospel of Christ. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10 ESV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13 ESV) Our God is a God of hope, joy, and peace

10. How Shall We Resist the Influence? Teach and Remember the Gospel of Christ. but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 ESV) The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.(2 Peter 3:9 ESV)
