4. June: Didn’t we do well? Wasn’t business the best it’s ever been? Bill: Sure. So? June: So? Shouldn’t we be giving from what God has blessed us with this last year? Bill: Yeah, but we needed to save for a rainy Day. You never know when things can just bottom out. June: Bill, it’s Christmas!

5. Bill: And January, our slowest month, is right around the corner. (June turns to look at the road Bill just missed) June: You just missed the turn. Did you do that on Bill: Maybe. Still, it’s hard on the bottom line. It would be nice to save for our retirement, rather than wasting our money. June: You’re not wasting our money. We have been called to give generously.

6. Bill: Is this it? (June gets frustrated) June: Yes-s-s. You’ve been here before. (Bill turns into street looking for driveway) Bill: It’s dark, and I was hoping I’d miss it. Look, we could take this gift back and apply the money to some progressive money market fund. Then we could give it to them next year. June: You’re so tight it squeaks, doesn’t it? (pause) Bill?

7. Bill: What? June: This is our opportunity to not just give a gift, but to give from our heart. Do it out of Christ’s love. (Bill says with a sing-song voice) Bill: That’s why Christ came, why we take the time to buy gifts. To follow the best giver there ever was! June: Now you’ve got it! Bill: (stepping on the brakes) Well… I don’t know.

8. June: Humph.. I can imagine what my gift under the tree is this year. Bill: Now, now. I just think getting every one of your employees a gift is a little too much. June: But, Bill, they are our kids! You would think that you wouldn’t mind getting them a gift! Bill: (looking embarased) I guess not. The End…..
