Solution Approach
In a controlled area, seed a small number of motes that are concealed and have known location (or sprinkle in an ensemble a few of which have GPS or similar capability)
At any later time, add additional motes (dropped from the air, via mortar, or sprinkling from UAVs)
Dynamically establish and maintain a grid aligned to the “real” map
Outfit soldiers with mote receivers that establish position relative to the grid and contribute to situational display.
