7 Displacement- water that is moved aside when an object is placed in a graduated cylinder; a method to measure the volume of an object using a liquid Meniscus- a bowl shaped line that is used to measure water levels

8 Which side of this ruler allows you to measure with more precision? Why?

9 Precision and Accuracy Accuracy- depends on the difference between a measurement and an actual value. – Ex. You look at a stream and estimate that it is 1m to the other side. You measure the width the best you can without getting wet and find it is 1.32m. Later you find out that it actually measure 1.14m. Your estimate was more accurate that your measurement. Precision- The exactness and consistency of measurements. (The level of detail in the measurement) – EX. Measurements made with a ruler with cm and mm is more precise than a ruler with only cm.
