1 Is it all nice & simple in the nests of the small potter wasp Symmorphus canadensis? Peter Hallett, ROM Natural History & UoT.

2 2 siblings species: Vivid to brilliant Yellow (NBS#82-83) are Symmorphus cristatus & paleshades are S.canadensis.

3 Small bores (nest sites) have both species, larger bores have only one.

4 Yellowish Whites, pale Yellows & pale to light Orange Yellows (NBS 89-92, 70-73) are S.canadensis. The 10- 20% of intermediate yellows (#83-86) are either species.

5 1011 nest sites in 2 diameters (gen. 2003 )

6 Prepupal colours when the nest sites are sorted into the 2 sizes (generation 2003).

8 The 15 colour banded nests hatched to S. canadensis. 6 of 7 male-female orderings were colour different. (gens 2004 & 2005).
