2  Politicians- work toward getting re-elected, campaigning, etc  Legislators- turn public will into laws  Representatives of their Constituents- vote on items for their people “back home”  Committee Members- sit on committees and screen bills to decide which will go to Congress  Servants of their Constituents- do favors for their voters

3  Trustees- vote based on how they personally feel  Delegates- vote based on how their constituents feel  Partisans- vote based on how their party feels  Politicos- balance the three

4  Current Salary= $174,000  Congress sets its own Salary (27 th Amendment)  2 things keep it in check: presidential veto and fear of voter backlash  Franking Privilege  Immunity from libel or slander arising out of official business
