3 Where/When She Was Born and raised  Elizabeth Blackwell was born in Bristol, England, on Feb. 3,1821.  She was raised in England, but they moved to New York City in 1832.  In 1838 the Blackwell's moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.

4 Childhood  Elizabeth was home schooled most of her life.  She wanted to be the first women doctor so she applied to many medical schools, including Harvard, Yale and Bowdoin.  She was not excepted but, she was the first women to go to Geneva Medical College in New York State.

5 Medical Life  Elizabeth graduated from Geneva in 1849.  Elizabeth practiced medicine at a summer program in 1848 at the Philadelphia Hospital in Pennsylvania.  The young physicians there were cruel and offered her no assistance.

6 Medical Life Continued  She opened the New York Infirmary for Women and Children which provided heath care for the poor and training woman how wanted to become doctors.  In 1869 Elizabeth moved back to England to continue her medical dream.  She got a horrible disease called ophthalmic, which left her blind in one eye.  She continued to be a doctor even with the disease and helped find the London School of Medicine for Women.

7 Where/When Did She Die  Elizabeth Blackwell the first women doctor died at her home in Hastings, England, on May 31, 1910.
