Intermittent – Flows at certain times of year.
Ephemeral – Flow during precipitation.

5. Terms associated with Streams
Riparian – Of, on or pertaining to the bank of a water body.
Wetland – Areas saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support and do support a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. I.e. swamps, marshes, bogs, and similar areas.
Watershed – An area of land that drains into a water body such as a lake or river.

8. Floodplain
A nearly flat plain along the course of a stream or river that is naturally subject to flooding.
10 year floodplain
20 year floodplain
100 year floodplain
