- Asriadi - Low-Cost Mobile Wireless Communication Project For Rural Area Based On OpenVoice Framework
3
Some Information Data from Ministry of communication and information technology in 2011 says “there were 66 778 villages in Indonesia and only about 36 percent (24,000) of them covered by telecommunications services” Distribution of the frequency band dominated on Java Island with 50.4% and the smallest at 1.5% in Maluku-Papua indicated telecommunication infrastructure have not been spread evenly [Ibnugraha, Prajna Deshanta, and Tora Fahrudin. "Persebaran Layanan dan Infrastruktur Telekomunikasi Provinsi Papua." Jurnal INFOTEL 6.1 (2014).].
4
Research background Indonesian’s constitution No.36 in 1999 subsection 3 about telecommunication Universal declaration of human rights subsection 19 and 26 Difficult terrain, high cost infrastructure development, ROI, population and electrical problem. Why this project conducted ?
5
Project description Telecommunication project for provided telecommunication access at rural area/remote areas Special design for rural area implementation which have several advantages Using open source software
6
OpenVoice Prototype design Using Modified OpenWRT Firmware Using Wi-Fi and Mesh-Adhoc Technology with OLSR routing protocol MR3020 and as a mesh-adhoc Node (Asterisk Box) Using smartphone as mobile station (must be install a softphone to using this service)
7
Another research Village Telco (East Timor, Brasil etc) Air Jaldi (India) Wray Project (England) and many more
8
OpenVoice Prototype design Mesh-Adhoc Technology with multihop transmissions
9
OpenVoice Prototype design Tiny AP/routerwith high performance and suitable for modified openWRT firmware Only need 5V/1 A to run it into mini asterisk box which provided telecommunications access with VoIP and mesh-adhoc Technology COTS and really cheap
10
OpenVoice Prototype design OpenVoice basic architecture using asterisk as softswitch to routing call to another user Using smartphone equiped with softphone as mobile stations at user side to communicate each other Using prosody as jabber service to handled messaging service
11
Basic Implementation Basic implementation to connecting several areas using OpenVoice System No service provider, no SIM card, cheap, low electricity and easy maintain
