What are words that describe how CLD families report being treated in the transition planning process? What does the term Cultural Reciprocity mean; can you describe what it looks like in practice?

3 Best practices for school transition professionals to engage in with CLD families Engage in skilled dialogue and culturally responsive collaboration during transition planning. Assess the knowledge and skill levels of special education and transition personnel for interacting with CLD families of youth with disabilities. Provide training to special education and transition personnel to improve their capabilities for interacting with CLD families.

Explore CLD family transition training resources in your region or local area and connect families with these resources. Develop your own CLD family transition training materials and resources.

7 Epilogue: closing comments All individuals in society, including those with disabilities and those from CLD families, deserve an opportunity to complete school and experience a quality adult life. My goal in writing this book and the training I conduct is to empower everyone in the transition planning process to achieve this outcome. I hope that these webinars result in you being better prepared to continue to do the good work you do!
