Developing Christian Character Part 3

What do the ten commandments teach us? Exodus 20:1 through Exodus 20:18 (KJV) 2) I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. God delivered us out of bondage We must not forget what God delivered us from

I. 3) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Do we put anything ahead of God? Is our life God centered? God changes our world view.

II. 4) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image… Elevating the things of this world to God status is unacceptable to the one real God. What deserves more reverence than the things of God?

III. 7) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. God’s name is holy. We need to speak about God with reverence.

IV. 8) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Church is important to our spiritual life. Forsake not the assembling of ourselves together. (Hebrews 10:25) When church becomes unimportant to us it is a sign of spiritual problems.

V. 12) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. There is blessing in honoring those who are due. People are very disrespectful in our world today. We need to hold those who have blessed us in high esteem.
