Three Types of License Actions  Cancellation  Revocation  Suspension

Cancellation  The Department of Public Safety may take any person’s license if it is determined that they should not have been issued the license!  Remember - YOU DON’T GET YOUR LICENSE BACK WHEN IT IS CANCELLED.

Revocation  If convicted of certain offenses, a driver license may be revoked.  After the period of revocation has passed, the driver will be required to take and pass the driver examinations.

Possible offenses that could result in revocation:  Manslaughter or homicide as a result of operating a motor vehicle.  Driving while intoxicated.  Using a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony.  Three reckless driving convictions in less than twelve months.  Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle belonging to another.

Suspension If a suspension occurs, you may lose your license for a short period of time and then you may get your license back.

Possible reasons to have license suspended:  Incompetent to drive a motor vehicle.  Permitted an unlawful or fraudulent use of your license or mutilated such license (fake identification).  Convicted of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.  Convicted of racing on the highway.  Ages 15-18 and withdraw from school under certain conditions prior to graduation.
