He can tell a when Dr Watson is surprised at this, Holmes gives an explanation which is quite simple. That is the meaning of Elementary, my dear Watson !

In one of the stories, Holmes says Elementary ! meaning Quite simple and he often calls Watson My dear friend or Dear Watson. Even so, the above expression became popular. It was later used in the Sherlock Holmes movies. Meaning : The expression is used at the beginning of a simple explanation in a humorous way. It is also used when we answer questions like How do you guess ? How did you find out ? How do you know that ?, etc. It is used in conversations with friends for to use if when you talk to your teachers and elders !
