4. ICASE HISTORY Founded in 1961 The first ICASE constitution adopted in 1962 Special Education in the State of Indiana has been authorized under state statutes since 1927. A sub division of the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC) National member of Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE)

5. Membership Benefits Mentor program for new directors. New directors training 2-3 times per year. First hand information from DOE. Directors list serv. Monthly roundtable meetings. 2 Indiana conferences per year pertaining to law, trends, best practice, leadership and compliance at both State and Federal levels.

6. ICASE Director supports Data collection and reporting Evaluations Related services Suspensions/expulsions Manifestation determinations Compliance monitoring Funding/MOE Proportionate share Disproportionality Appropriate IEP’s Due Process/Complaints/Mediation Medicaid

7. ICASE Executive Committee Meets monthly to support the special education directors in Indiana by: Providing a voice to state legislation Supporting accountability for all students Being at the table with other agencies and resources to better serve students with disabilities.
