Paper 2: B ring to your exam: Calculator Protractor Pencil Ruler Rubber Pen

1. Using the map key correctly 2. Using the scale of the map to calculate distances The width of the grid square is always 1km. Measure the distance in mm and convert to metres using the scale. You didn't bring a calculator to your exam? Example: Distance along the railway line is 6.1 cm. Divide 6.1 by 2 and multiply by 1000 6.1 2 = 3.05 x 1000 = 3050m

On your map, North is always going up When you describe the distribution of something on your map now you can say if it is in the N,E,S,W of the area.

Getting three marks on a cross-section question: 960490 020490 Wide tarred road Building Chantalikiti river Measure the distance along the line on the map and mark on the cross-section above. measure from the left. The cross-section diagram uses the same scale as your map

Calculating gradient: Divide the change in height by distance Change in height (metres) Distance (metres) 120m 100m = 1.2

Drawing a pie chart: Your data set adds up to 100% You have 360 in a circle So 1% = 3.6 Primary 12% = 43 Secondary 45% = 162 Tertiary 43% = 155

Dont forget to include the unit in your answers where necessary: The depth of the river on the outside of the bend is 5.6m and 1.2m on the inside of the bend 21 m/s
