3 Seeing: The Eye To see you must:  Collect light  Allow light into the eye  Focus light on receptor cells  Change the light into nerve impulses

4 Collecting Light Cornea:  Clear covering of front of eye  Refracts light

5 Allow light into Eye Pupil:  Opening Iris:  Muscle that controls size of pupil

6 Focusing Light Lens  Changes shape as result of ciliary muscle  Focuses light on retina

7 Change Light into Nerve Impulses Retina  Contains rod and cone cells (nerve cells)  Rods  Cones: 3 types  Red  Green  Blue
